High School Student Summer Internship

Are you a local Monroe County high school student looking for experience in the Marine Science field AND love working with kids??

Duration: June 5th-July 26th, 2024

Pay: 15$/hr

Hours: 20-40 hrs/week

Duties:

-Assist MarineLab Instructors on snorkel field trips by helping young participants in the water and on the boat

-Work with Instructors to facilitate Summer camp activities like labs and games

-Help instructors set up and clean up after programs

Requirements:

-Must be a rising Junior or Senior high school student

-Monroe County resident with the ability to transport yourself to and from MarineLab (OR be able to use public transportation, live within biking distance)

-Be able to commit to at least 4 weeks during the months of June and July

-Strong swimmer/snorkeler, like working with children, and have interest in the marine science field

This internship will offer the selected high school students the opportunity to gain experience working in the marine science education field. The intern will shadow our marine science instructors, help with labs, activities and snorkel field trips. A large portion of time will be spent helping our instructors run our Summer Camp. There may be opportunities to work on some projects that contribute to our programs, classes, or labs. For the right student, this opportunity could put you a step ahead for your future career path!
